IEC Mentoring

Ready to Start or Refresh Your IEC Business?

Let the College Mindset Counselor Mentoring Program

set you up for success!

Educator or Entrepreneur?

When I became an IEC, one of the most significant questions I had was how to resolve the conflict between being an educator and an entrepreneur. How can I make money when my primary concern is the well-being and growth of teenagers? In the College Mindset Counselor Mentoring Program, we will discuss steps you can take to balance your goals. We will review how to use your background as an educator to guide your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

When I started College Mindset in 2010, I was excited to work closely with students and be my own boss! I knew about the college process and how to counsel teenagers, but I was PETRIFIED of starting a business. Where do I begin? What do I call my business? How do I generate leads? What’s a profit and loss statement??? The list of questions seemed endless.

It took me YEARS, some online business classes, and many informational webinars to get my business where it is today. I finally consider myself an entrepreneur AND college counselor (and yes, you can be both).

Whether you are just starting, have a few clients, or have been an IEC for a while, we can all use a little help. My mentors have played an integral part in the success of College Mindset, so I am passionate about helping others find success in educational consulting in a lot less time than it took me.

The College Mindset Counselor Mentoring Program is personalized for your success.

Katherine is a leader in the industry as the former Chair of the College Consultants of Colorado. She is a member of NACAC, RMACAC, the College Consultants of Colorado, the Colorado Council, and HECA.

Katherine’s mentorship helped me overcome the business aspect of becoming an IEC! She assisted me in developing a business structure, which I had been avoiding. Her direction and guidance allowed me to move forward and focus on working with students, which is what I love the most! I highly recommend Katherine for support in getting your business going!

college counselor training

Working with Katherine was the jump-start I needed to get my business up and running. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for guidance as they enter the world of educational consulting. As a former school counselor, I had experience working with students and families in the college search and application process, but I lacked knowledge about marketing a business. I was immediately impressed by Katherine’s highly organized systems and well-thought-out curriculum, and I was refreshed by her candor. Her targeted feedback (based on my specific areas of need) and the resources she shared gave me the confidence I needed to feel secure as I launched my business. She also introduced me to other IECs and families in the community. Working independently, it is invaluable to know you have someone in your corner when you have questions, and Katherine is someone you can count on. If you are a new IEC looking for support, I highly recommend working with her!
